The Gas Lamp.

In the area around the Riverhead in Louth are industrial buildings that were once associated with the boats that came to Louth along the "Louth Navigation" canal.  The businesses that occupied them have long since gone, some of the warehouses have been converted to riverside apartments, some are left empty but a few are still in use as commercial premises.  Amongst them are "Louth Building Supplies", there is a steel fabrication company and, tucked away in a small square is "The Gas Lamp" public house. 

I spotted it on a recent walk from the opposite bank of the canal and investigated it, and I'm pleased that I did.

Ferris wheel at the Cleethorpes Armed Forces Day.

After the entertainment of the 2019 Cleethorpes Armed Services Day I went out in the evening as the light was fading.

On the South Promenade was a Ferris wheel, erected for the weekend, and also some amusements and food stalls.

I concentrated on the floodlit Ferris wheel to try and illustrate the fading light in a perfect summer sky.

As I left at approx. 22:30 there were still hundreds of people waiting for the firework display.

As the sun set the floodlights came on. 
(A man in a car called me over and asked me if I knew what time Tesco closed!?  We have
some odd people in Cleethorpes, don't we Gwen?)

These people where watching an aeroplane display by "The Fireflies", two 'planes

that left firework trails in the night sky.

The building adjacent to the wheel is Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, closed for the night

and with it's lights off, it held a perfect reflection of the Ferris Wheel.

After the parade had finished this tank went through it's paces to entertain the crowd.

Along the promenade were various stalls, rides and food outlets all the weekend.

After the parade finished I had a walk about to capture some of the people and atmosphere.

Local shops were decorated for the event, I had a look in the window of this hat shop.

I spotted this reflection in a window.

This little chap was watching everything going on.

I got permission from his parents to use his photo on my Internet blog.

All attention was now on the skies over Cleethorpes Beach.  Various flying

displays went on during the afternoon.

I've finished my post for this event with a photo of two of the people that it's

all about, the veterans and also all the serving members of our Armed Forces past and present.
