The Lincolnshire Rising.

The lincolnshire Rising took place on the 1st of October 1536.  It began at St. James church in Louth, a Catholic Church but now an Anglican Church.

The English Catholic Church split from Rome after King Henry 8th was denied a divorce from Queen Ann Boleyn. A group of people at Louth, including the then vicar of St. James Church, demanded freedom to continue worshipping as Catholics.  The uprising gathered in numbers and started marching to London but were captured and the leaders executed at Tyburn.
