This archway is at the entrance to Brocklesby Park on the Earl of Yarborough's Estate.
Brocklesby is a village in the West Lindsey area of Lincolnshire.
Known locally as the "Brocklesby Arch", it was erected in 1864 to commemorate the
2nd Earl of Yarborough, Charles Anderson Worsely.

An impressive archway. I read a little about the Park on their website, I see the design was by Capability Brown in the 1700s - all very interesting. Lovely photos David.

DeleteI always enjoy seeing a stone arch. This one is a beauty for sure! I always associate them with grand entries into cemeteries, parks and such from earlier days. Many of them here have fallen into disrepair or are marked with graffiti, highlighting the sad times in which we seem to be living. The particular one you've photographed in your post is of an era where these were common here and many date from the same era. It must have been a popular thing to do!
