Ludborough.

A few pictures taken at Ludborough in Lincolnshire.

Ludborough is a village and Civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England.  5 miles north of Louth with a population of 191 people.

A view through gardens to St. Marys Church.

The village centre on the old road to Louth which was bypassed many years ago.

Thatched cottage, currently unoccupied.

A farmyard along a little lane.

The Liversey Arms, village pub.

The "obligatory" old plough outside the pub.

  1. I'm sure I'd like Ludborough with the red bricks and that thatched cottage - a shame it isn't occupied. No doubt it will be a hefty price if it is for sale. The village looks so neat and tidy. Enjoyed the photos, hope you have a good weekend.

    1. The village is very quiet these days since being bypassed many years ago.

  2. Hello David. I’m really interested in this lovely post as it reminds me of a series we’ve been watching on Prime video, Hidden Villages with Penelope Keith. You have captured perfectly each criterion for a true “village” with the thatched cottage, church, farmyard, pub, small population, etc. I especially love the photo of the farmyard, wonderfully composed with the spots of red and the pure white surface of the structure. Well done, as always in high quality photos and subject matter. Have a nice weekend!

    1. Thank you Ann, I know the TV series you mentioned, we watched it 1st time round on UK TV. Penelope Keith was an inspired choice to present it too, so very "English".
The road through Ludborough was once the main trunk road between Cleethorpes and Louth but a bypass was built in 1990. It now enjoys a more leisurely, quiet pace of life.
