I was sat in my garden listening to the cricket when I saw a Ladybird climbing in an Alchemilla Mollis plant. I spent the next half hour observing it's movements and taking photographs. Lots of photograph but here are just a few of them.
For anyone not familiar with the title, "Ladybird, Ladybird, fly away home", its from an old English nursery rhyme. Below is a link for more details at Wikipedia.

| Well, I nearly got it, but then, as the nursery rhyme says, it flew away home. (To another plant actually, but I'd already missed a lot of the cricket so called it a day) Olympus EM10 Mk2 + 12-60mm Lumix lens. |
Super set of photos, David. Shame it flew away 'home'. I can't remember seeing a ladybird this year. Could do with some though, in the garden, to munch on a few greenfly. Stay cool!

DeleteSuch beautiful photos! Ladybugs are a delightful subject and not easy to capture, but you've managed to do it very well. They are very desirable here for gardens and we can buy mesh bags full of them in the garden centers. It always bothered me a bit to see them captured and contained like that. I have read that your weather is going to be beastly today, so take care. We are experiencing the same thing here.

Regarding the cover photo, I change it from time to time and try to reflect the time of year, glad you enjoyed it. DeleteWhat a lovely little ladybird with a shiny coat. You have done well to capture it Mike. My youngest daughter seems to be very good at finding ladybirds and will happily let them crawl all over her hand, until they get bored and fly away home :) x
