More pics from Cleethorpes.

A few more pics from our excursion down to the seafront at Cleethorpes.

North Promenade

Cleethorpes pier was opened in 1873 and has changed hands several times over the years.
At present owned by Papas, a national company of fish & chip restaurants.

"The Submarine" pub stood on this site for many years but has been demolished.
Hoardings now surround the site.

Looking south along Central Promenade and even though it's only March the sun has
brought out plenty of people.  The large building high up in the centre is a block of
luxury apartments called "The Point".

The white hut rents out deck chairs in the holiday season.

Boarded off is the site of the new lifeboat station being build on the beach.

Work has been ongoing for quite a while, this is the main base & foundations.

On the right is the current RNLI Inshore Lifeboat Station which will be replaced.

Artists impression of how the new station will look.

The ever present dog walkers.

Looking from the side of the new project.

  1. Great colours, David, and a fine blue sky. All the best - it's blowing a gale at the moment in Cornwall.

  2. Lovely, crisp photos, David. The seafront looks very colourful and lively there. Sorry I've been absent for a while. I can hardly believe it's been close to a month since I posted and I've been away from blogland. I'll have to see what else I've missed on your page. Mine will be active again this weekend!

  5. Greetings, David! I’m happy to see the pier and to know that you are out and about. I imagine that it will soon be even more busy with lots of people enjoying the warmer days ahead. It will be interesting to see the lifeboat station project as it grows. Seems a large facility but maybe that’s normal for the area. I’ve wondered about ownership of the pier and thought perhaps it belonged to the city but now I know. Thanks for the great photos and captions as well. Take care, Ann K.

    1. Hi Ann, hope you're well. Yes we're coming to the end our residents quiet season and the visitors are already coming at weekends. The new Lifeboat Station has come to an abrupt halt as the main contractor building it has gone into liquidation! A new building firm will no doubt take it on..
