Horse Chestnut tree.

I have several favourite trees and this has to be high up on that list.

This was once one of a pair of fine Chestnut trees but storms destroyed
one of them around five years ago.
(Pictures taken this morning).

I'm fascinated by the twist displayed on it's trunk as it has followed the light.

This year's "Conkers".

  1. A superb tree and the lane looks a comfortable walk. The tree twists give character. Have a good week

  2. Now that is one handsome Chestnut tree David! It is amazing when they twist like that. It makes me wonder what they're up to ;)

    1. We took our kids here to collect the conkers in the Autumn (50 years ago!) and have been visiting the area ever since with grand kids, and of course our dogs. We don't go anywhere without a dog. Thanks Lulu.
