Rear of Sainsburys. (part 1of 5).

These pictures were taken at various locations around Alexandra Dock in Grimsby which I've collectively called "Rear of Sainsburys"

"Ross Tiger" permanently moored alongside the National Fishing Heritage Museum.

Looking through to the marina.

A Cormorant drying it's wings after fishing.

A juvenile Herring Gull.

Old cattle trough once used for horses and animals to drink from.  Possibly located in the old Bullring?  Now used as a flower container in the summer months.

A few local characters enjoying the sun.

Louth Bits & Turbines.

We had one of our frequent visits to the small market Town of Louth in Lincolnshire last Saturday.  It's only a 20 minute drive so we go there quite often.  Although I took my camera (I take a compact everywhere I go) I hadn't intended to take any pictures but, as usual, items and scenes presented themselves to me so here are just a few.

Cockerel weather vane on top of the
spire on St. James church.

Flowers for sale on the Saturday market.

This is (in my opinion) the best bakers shop in Louth
offering a wide range of delicious baked products.

It's also spotlessly clean and baked with organically grown ingredients!  I had a delicious Cherry & Nut scone!

We saw some wind turbines on the way home.

You either love 'em or hate 'em!

Humberstone Fitties Chalets, revisited. (2 of 2)

The Fitties area is protected from the sea by a high sandbank running along the coast.

A lot of the fitties chalets have been decorated and adorned with little items.

Although the chalets can only be occupied overnight for 10 months of the year, many
owners come down in the closed season to maintain their gardens and chalets.

This on has a raised pond.

Quite a few interesting features at this one.

All pictures taken on a Panasonic TZ60 compact camera.

Humberstone Fitties Chalets, revisited. (1 of 2)

I've posted pictures from this location before, in the summertime.  As a reminder, the Humberstone Fitties Chalets are a collection of buildings built many years ago as holiday homes by local people to enjoy with their families.  They were originally makeshift buildings made from whatever bits of material could be scavenged but over the years they have been updated into more substantial, permanent structures but still retain their original "queerkiness"!  In more recent years they've been granted Listed Building status to reflect their unique appeal and attract lots of visitors.

Here are a few images taken recently on a very sunny but cold day.

Just the place to take a rest, but not on this day, it was freezing!!
