Continuing my tour of the Lincolnshire Seaside Coast.

Skegness is a popular seaside resort on the east coast of Lincolnshire.  Although I live in a seaside resort (Cleethorpes) we decided to visit Skegness on a very sunny but extremely cold day.  

There's something intriguing about a seaside resort during the out of season winter months.  The crowds of summer visitors are gone and the residents can enjoy their own town in a more leisurely manner.

These street map vending machines are appearing a lot around  Lincolnshire.

As expected, most of the summer businesses were closed and shuttered, I didn't mind

as I wanted to capture the essence of an out of season seaside resort.

The gondola cars are removed until the new season.

Did I say it was cold/  Well it was, this couple found a shelter with views out to the sea.

My only disappointment from the day, the pier was closed.  I thought it might have been

open for people to walk along, as ours back in Cleethorpes is all year round.  Maybe that's

because it's part of a national chain of fish & chip shops now!

Even if this were open I wouldn't be going on it!

Still at Chapel Saint Leonards, a row of beach huts caught my attention.

North Sea Observatory.

The next few posts are along the Lincolnshire coast exploring
the area during the closed season when all the visitors have gone back home.


The North Sea Observatory is at Chapel Saint Leonards, Lincolnshire and was built in 2018.

Bengal Village.

The Bengal Village is an Indian Resturant in Barton Upon Humber in Lincolnshire.   

It's a restaurant with a bit of a surprise!!

The "surprise" is this life sized Bengal Tiger replica, the kids will love it!

Another surprise is in the main restaurant where the ceiling changes it's colours.

Foggy in the Park.

A few images in the park on a recent foggy day.  Freezing Fog.

This is the "Sensory Garden", originally planted with plants that were either tactile

and textured to the touch or had a strong scent.  It was for partially sighted people to 

enjoy and each plant had a brail nameplate.   

The park & garden was opened by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in her Silver Jubilee year, 1977.

Unfortunately, over the years and with a little help from vandals, the sensory plants have gone

so, the whole thing was replanted by Agricultural Students at the Grimsby College with 

plants that could withstand drought conditions.  Sign of the times in many ways.

What a difference the weather makes!

Last week we had thick, freezing fog in Cleethorpes and today it's a lovely sunny day, mild with a temperature of 14 degrees C.

These two pics illustrate the fickle changes in the British weather.

Taken on the 31st of January, only the bravest souls out

today to get their Fish & Chips.
