Barton Tile Works (2 of 2)

Terracotta plant pots made at the Craft Centre.

The tile works are right below the Humber Bridge.  To the left is my son Michael photographing
the log pile.

Another section of the pan tile wall.

As we were leaving we got this view of the bridge reflected in one of the many flooded
pits that were dug for the clay to feed the tile works.

Barton Tile Works (1 of 2)

In the grounds of the Barton Tile works is a fairly new craft park for Artisans to make and show/sell their work. I visited it in August and here are just a few of the pictures I took on a lovely summer's day.

The pictures were taken on my new Panasonic G6 camera with a 14-140mm zoom lens.

The Humber Bridge is in the background.

The tile works have made thousands of these terracotta roofing pan tiles over the years and here
they've found a novel way of using them to build very attractive walls!

The Swallows were gathering on the electricity wires, as they do prior to migrating back to Africa
but I was pleased to still see some yesterday over a lake I was fishing at.

Here was a texture/pattern pic I couldn't resist created by pan tiles and logs.

Barton Creek (2 of 2)

A few more images taken around the creek at Barton on Humber.

The Humber Bridge, seen from the walkway alongside the creek.

A few chains across a gap in the railings.

In the first post was an image of the modern Visitor Centre.  The next 2 images show some of
modern design features of the building.

New Holland Bulk Cargo Terminal in the distance.  Once used for the ferry crossings over
the Humber Estuary to Hull on the Yorkshire side.  The service soon closed with the opening
of the Humber Bridge.

Another view of the radically designed Visitor Centre.

All pictures taken on a Panasonic G6 camera + 14 - 140mm lens.

Barton Creek (1 of 2)

Barton Creek is at Barton on Humber and is a place I visit quite often.  Here are a few images from my latest visit.

This creek was once a busy wharf but has become silted up over the years since it became unused.
It's now used by the boat builder and repair yard on the left.

In the background is the Humber Bridge.

The building in the distance on the right is "The Waterside Visitor Centre".  Here you can
get information about the extensive wildlife in the area and, in the Spring, watch various
birds on their nests via the live cameras located around the area

Sand Sculpture Celebrating the Magna Carta.

It's 800 years since the Magna Carta was agreed and sealed at Runnymead on 15th of June 1215.  There are only three copies of the Magna Carta and one of them is held in Lincoln Castle.

In the grounds of the castle a giant sand sculpture has been constructed depicting King John, the Bishops and the Barons.  The document was never signed, as popular belief would have it, but it was "Sealed" with King John's seal, as depicted in the sand sculpture.

I took these few images on the 28th August to record the sculpture as, with the first rains, it will be gone.
On the left are the Barons who had the Charter written.  On the right are the bishops.

The Barons are depicted witnessing the sealing of the Charter, King John was very reluctant to
do so as it took away all his powers because as part of it stated, "No man is above the Law"
NOT EVEN THE MONARCH.

Here is shown King John applying The Great Seal.

Sibsey Trader Windmill.

We took our little dog Suzi for her leg operation today at Kirton, near Boston in Lincolnshire.  She has to stay in overnight so on the way home I stopped at the Windmill at Sibsey to take a few photographs.
