Earlier this month Popcorn and I had a walk in a wood and around a private fishing lake. I have permission to go around the lake but promised I wouldn't say where it was. Below are some photographs taken there on two separate days, the weather was almost similar but one day was very much warmer.

| This angler had the lake to himself on the day we visited, lucky chap. Takes me back to my fishing days with my wife Carole, before Covid. I used to fish while she would paint watercolour paintings. |

| The weed that has been a problem on a lot of lakes this year is receding now. |

| A lone tree, possibly a Copper Beech displays some lovely colour. |

| There were a few lovely apple trees along the way. |

| This tree had me puzzled, I didn't recognise it. It had some strange prickly fruit on it. I checked it with "Google Lens" on my phone and discovered it to be a "Sweet Chestnut". |

| Leaving the lake we had a pleasant walk through the surrounding wood. |

I'm a bit late here, David. I'm so sorry. As always, I've been running to keep up with myself, but I'm glad I've seen these lovely photos. What a beautiful and peaceful location. I can well believe fishing is a restful pursuit, although not one I would be tempted to do. It's lovely that your wife painted while you fished – a special way of being together. The scenery in your photos is gorgeous and you've captured it perfectly.

DeleteI always love your photos, David, so I came here looking for a new post, but it was just as lovely to see these again. Now autumn is here, the colours are gorgeous, but I am already missing the summer. Let's hope winter's a brief one!

DeleteThe apples look almost too perfect to be real! Such a beautiful day and the fisherman must have been lost in thought in a peaceful place like that. Popcorn is a lucky pup to have such nice places to walk and sniff. The vegetation around the pond looks very much like it would here. Stunning, natural colors in every shot. It’s finally autumn here with changing colors and cooler temperatures. It’s my favorite season. Take care and keep on exploring! Ann
