"Your Village needs You!"

Each summer the staff at the Waltham Fire Station hang planters outside their building and I usually photograph the display.  This year the doors have been painted with this impressive mural, hoping to attract and recruit new members to the fire & rescue service.

Sign of these times?

Many businesses have closed during this pandemic and Cleethorpes lost one of it's oldest shops in early June with the closure of "John Turner's" Butcher, Baker & Sandwich Maker.

I'm a vegetarian but was still saddened to see this old family firm close.

John Turner's shop in St. Peters Avenue, Cleethorpes.

The familiar "larger than life" figure of a butcher stood outside Turners for many years,
but now stands behind the permenently closed door.

An old delivery bike, standing over the shop front.

A few pictures taken at Ludborough in Lincolnshire.

Ludborough is a village and Civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England.  5 miles north of Louth with a population of 191 people.

A view through gardens to St. Marys Church.

The village centre on the old road to Louth which was bypassed many years ago.

Thatched cottage, currently unoccupied.

A farmyard along a little lane.

The Liversey Arms, village pub.

The "obligatory" old plough outside the pub.

Lincolnshire Images.

A few images taken around our local area in Lincolnshire.

This old agricultural building is being renovated.

St. Nicholas Church, Grainsby.

Even Dandelions can be attractive, seen along a Lincolnshire lane.

New leaves emerging on a Horse Chestnut tree.

Ivy leaves.

One of the locals keeping an eye on me!

Tetney Lock.

 Tetney Lock in Lincolnshire.

We had a drive to another of our favourite locations, Tetney Lock, on the side of the Louth Navigation in North East Lincolnshire.  I photographed some places on the way there.

On the way we passed some people out on a "Tractor Run" with some old vintage tractors.

In the background are the Tetney Oil Terminal storage tanks.

An Owl nesting box.

An old Chapel, now a private residential home.

Eventually we arrived at the Louth Navigation Canal.  It's not a canal with towpaths as it
was used by sea going Keelboats navigating their way from the North Sea, along the canal
to the River Head at Louth.  A distance from the coast to Louth of 11 miles.

The "Crown & Anchor" is  a popular public house at Tetney Lock.

Around Wold Newton in Lincolnshire.

Our first walk at Wold Newton since last November.

Some activity at the farm in Wold newton.

This small quarry has been dug out of the Lincolnshire hillside recently to provide
Limestone for a project further along the road.
It shows the Chalky nature of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Plenty of blossom around now.

Primula in the grass verge of the road.

Trees still waiting for their leaves to open.

A few Spring flowers, April 2021.

Some flowers from my garden this Spring.

Winter Pansies.

Grape Hyacinths (Muscari) photographed after the rain.
I love the "surprised" look of the flower at the top.

Not a flower but I liked the texture & shapes.
