Here and there, a bit of a drive around.

Back in March this year, Popcorn & I had a drive around and some short walks.  We went to Swinhope, the Wolds Railway and called to see some Llamas.

The farmers were preparing the fields for another crop.

The ever present Gulls looking for a free meal.

Trees devoid of their leaves, I prefer to photograph them in winter as you can see their
skeletal structure.

Down in the valley is Swinhope, a small group of dwellings.
There's a really old church there which I've been photographing but had to wait for
some repairs inside before I could gain access.  I've now been able to go in so I'll post
the photo's of the church in my next post.  (If I remember!!"

A short drive away and we came across this pub called "The Click'em Inn".

Obviously referring to the sheep farmers.

In a completely different area are these Llamas & Alpacas.

Another short drive away to the Wolds Railway, a preserved heritage railway
at Ludborough.

It was a Tuesday and not open to the public.  Tuesday is a work day when the volunteers
do whatever work is required.  They let me take photographs there.

Here one of the workmen is saying hello to Popcorn while I take a few pics.

An old K6 Payphone, a reminder for me of my days as a BT telephone engineer.
Although, when I joined it was called Post Office Telephones.

Quite a few of the volunteers here are retired telephone engineers who I worked with.

The working signal box.

  1. Lovely light, colours and views, David! That old phone box looks very well cared for! How sweet to see Popcorn talking to the workman. I love the way these photos show real life but in such a vibrant way. Thank you, as always for showing us your part of the country.

    1. The phone box isn't a working phone. Despite several of the volunteers being my retired BT colleagues, it's just for show. Thanks for commenting, as ever.
      Popcorn & him!

  2. Hi David, I have really enjoyed this post, and the former one with your lively street scenes of Cleethorpes! The photos give me a good sense of the public areas in your community. Sometime I hope you’ll consider a photo walk around some of the residential neighborhoods. The lifesaving station is lovely and architecturally very appropriate to its location I believe. To my knowledge, there are no longer active lifesaving stations here other than the Coast Guard. There used to be many along the coasts but those that remain are often converted to summer rentals. I love the colorful shot of the phone booth. There is a restored one here at the local college, a nod to its relationship with Britain through an exchange program. It of course doesn’t have a phone, but is full of books as a little free library. Thank you for the varied collection of great photos. Take care, Ann.

    1. Hello Ann, good to hear from you again. Im pleased you enjoyed the posts. I recently did a photo walk around some of the areas that some of our visitors don't often frequent. Not exactly residential areas but you might find them of interest. I haven't edited any yet but will try to post them soon.
Take care Ann, David & Popcorn.
