Austen Fen in Lincolnshire.

Austen Fen is on the banks of the now redundant Louth Navigation Canal.  Farmers from all around would bring their harvested grain to be stored in this Warf side  store until barges from nearby Grimsby came to take it on board.

The cargo would then be taken back to Grimsby to be unloaded, Victoria Mills in Victoria Street would process the grain.

The coming of the train and then road transport meant the canal was not needed and it silted up, it's locks fell into disrepair and it is now only used by anglers like myself.

An old homestead in Lincolnshire.

This wooden constructed house in Donnington on Bain is a well known building.  Now in a derelict state it was the home of a couple from Grimsby for many years.

I took this back in March 2003 when the house was in quite poor condition and the

occupants had moved into a caravan in the garden.  Taken on a Nikon Compact camera.

This and the next image were taken 3 days ago.  The house has now collapsed and no-one now

lives on the site.

Now I'm not quite old enough to remember powdered milk but I do remember several of

the other items.  Not sure about the Hershey's Cocoa but I'm sure Ann Kennedy will be

familiar with it as I suspect that was an import to us from the USA. 

I'm very familiar with most of these products.
