The old Woolworths Building, Cleethorpes.

When I was a lad we had a branch of Woolworths in the High Street, Cleethorpes.  It occupied a building that had formerly been a cinema (I'm not old enough to remember that though!) Honest!!

Woolworths then relocated to a new building across the road and the old cinema had a variety of uses after that.  For a while it was an indoor market and then various sorts of wine bars etc.
I should have photographed it sooner but decided last year to record all the buildings in the High Street and they have appeared in a previous posting.

Over the last few months the J.D. Witherspoon group have been renovating the old cinema building and, in my opinion, have made a super job of re-creating how the old cinema might have looked in it's heyday.

I've put the latest images together with a couple of fairly recent ones to show how it has evolved.

Detail at the top.

The new owners have made a grand job of restoring this building, although it will be a night spot
they have retained the original facade and, by renaming it "The Coliseum Picture Theatre", they've
retained the integrity of the old cinema.
