Assorted views along Anthonys Bank

A few odd pics from Anthonys Bank from different days.

We haven't been out much since our last walks along the footpath at Anthony's Bank, these are a few odd things.

Cleethorpes Pier in the distance and the disused Light Railway Station in the foreground.

2 pics of Buck Beck flowing out into the Humber estuary.

This area is rich with wading birds, these are Oyster catchers.

More Oyster catchers with a Redshank on the left of the group.

A Little Egret, this one seems to be a resident just here as it can be spotted most days.
I'm not a "birder", nor do I have the right equipment to photograph them.  I leave that
to my son Michael, who goes all over to photograph wildlife with lenses that I wouldn't
be able to carry, let alone afford to buy!  But I'm pleased with my occasional modest efforts.

Don't know what these are, I did "Google Lens" (on the monitor screen) and was informed
they are "young developing flower catkins on a Willow Tree".  Isn't technology great!

Graffiti at the old station and the passing loop on the tracks.

Someone had prised this open, only to find a sturdy padlock inside. I liked the peeling, cracked
paint and rust.  The TV antique programs would describe that as "Patina!"

Boats, Spurn Lighthouse, Hail Sand Fort and wind turbines miles out
off the East Yorkshire coast.

Blackbirds pecking about, not exactly Wading Birds, but nice to see.
Popcorn barks at any birds so I had to be quick to get this pic.

The saltwater Lagoon where I spotted the birds earlier.
End of these photo's.

Olympus EM10 iv plus  40-150mm lens.

  1. These are wonderful photos, David. I especially like the prised open blue locker and the oyster catchers, but they're all beautiful. I'd love to go there myself. Thank you for another set of wonderful images. Val

    1. Hi Val, I'm pleased you liked these few odd pics, I'm sure you would enjoy this area.
It may be a while until I'm able to post anything, the weather hasn't been suitable for photography for a while. More importantly though, my old PC was having problems so I've had a new one built. After many years of touble free Internet broadband service my provider updated mine (free of any charges or cost increases) to full fibre. All went well and the work was done in less than an hour, by early evening. I went out and returned home 3 hours later to find no broadband at all. No access to the Internet, no TV access, only my mobile phone access via the phone network. Three days later a phone engineer arrived and within minutes had me back on the air, taking only a few minutes.
I can't blame the ISP too much as the problem was a failure of a new component. So now I have to get all my programs downloaded and installed before I can use my PC. My son intends to help me with this but he's about to go on a European River Cruise, so it will be a while before tat happens. Meanwhile, I can access your blog on my phone or tablet so still able to see what you've been up to.
      Take care, David and Popcorn

  2. Happy Easter, David! What a gorgeous and joyful burst of color to see in opening your blog! I love spring flowers and those hyacinths are stunning in deep purple. I know the area you have photographed here would be a great place for bird watching. Shore birds are always entertaining. I’m not familiar with the Redshank so I’m happy to follow up and read about it and learn something. Sorry to see about your PC issues and when we lose our technology it can feel quite annoying! We have full Google fiber and have been pleased. When there is an issue, there is a phone number to call and within seconds the problem is fixed remotely. I can’t begin to understand how it happens, but I’m glad of their good support. I hope you are up and running soon, with some good weather so that you and Popcorn can be out with your camera. Take care and I look forward to seeing what springtime photos you will post next. Ann

    1. Hello Ann and Happy Easter,
We get quite variety of wading birds along our shore with a few interesting ones visiting over the winter.
Still getting issues with broadband, although the first problem was resolved, it's now running painfully slowly. They say it will be resolved on the 7th of April.
Although I can't get onto my new PC (no software installed yet) I've been out with Popcorn and took a few photo's, the weather here is quite varied but generally on the upturn.
      Take care Ann,

      David and Popcorn
