We came across a field with Sunflowers growing randomly about.

 Probably seed from a crop of Sunflowers last year.

The Louth Canal at Thoresby Bridge.

 The Louth Canal, known as "The Louth Navigation", runs from the North Sea on Englands east coast, inland to Louth in Lincolnshire.  Along the way are various road crossings and bridges where the sailing barges would discharge their various cargoes into wharef side warehouses.  The canal finally closed in 1924 and has fallen into decline.

This building is undergoing restoration.

The Louth Navigation going on it's way to Louth.  This is the flat, coastal area of Lincolnshire.

These old abandoned sluice channels would have allowed flood water to drain from
this dyke into the canal.

Winding gear used to raise & lower the sluice gates.  The canal is seen in the distance.

The warehouse is a listed building and being sympathetically restored to original condition.

Autumn scene, tractor & Gulls.

 The harvest is well underway now in Lincolnshire and we saw this heavy tractor with disc harrow working a field near Tetney.  The Gulls (mainly Black Headed) were feasting on things unearthed behind the tractor.

The village of Waltham.

 Waltham is a large village and civil parish in North East Lincolnshire, England. It is 4 miles (6 km) south of Grimsby close to the suburb of Scartho

Until recently we haven't been venturing into the town but decided this day to try a short walk around the village of Waltham.  I got a bit carried away and took quite a few photo's, here's just 23 of them.

This pub has the best display of hanging baskets in our area.
