Garden photo's during lockdown (Set 2).

Another set of photo's from my garden, just the usual flowers plus one or two not so usual items.





These pegs are to hang my fishing nets up to dry.  No fishing just now though.

A permanent spring & summer resident in my garden, this is my Tortoise, "Joey".
I've had him for 70 years!

He thinks everything is food and will bite!


Joey loves his food.

    Your tulips are gorgeous! I love them but we have so much shade they don’t do well in our yard. I remember the amazing Joey and you must hold the record for the oldest living pet! We always had box turtles as kids, but eventually we would let them go and they always found their way back to the creek beds. Also, may I ask about your fishing nets? Are they open nets or the type on a handled frame? Also, what types of fish are in your lakes? Trout season is here now, but catfish are caught year round.

      Thank you Ann. The fishing nets are for Angling & are on handles, landing nets. We have most varieties of course fish, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch & Pike. The most common fish though are Carp and some can go to really big weights. Some lakes for fly fishing have various types of Trout but I don't fish for trout. We don't have any catfish in our area but further south they do.
      Joey was bought for me when I was 2 or 3 years old, I'm 73 now! My mum used to tell me that he has always been the size he is so, as they don't achieve their full adult size until they are 10 years old, that makes him around 80 years old! The average age for my type of Tortoise is 120 years so he will likely outlive me.
      They're not the best of pets, especially for children. We have a saying here that "a dog is for life, not just for Christmas", well the same applies to tortoises but, in this case it's YOUR LIFE!

    Love Joey, how wonderful to have had him so long. Made me remember a cousin who had a tortoise and how he wrapped him in straw in the winter to hibernate. Got to rush just had a call for dinner - and I daren't be late! Super post.
